An overview of your loyalty program
Before configuring individual settings, it’s helpful to understand the main building blocks of a loyalty program in BLOY and how they work together. This overview introduces the core components and optional features you can use to build and grow your loyalty program over time.
Core building blocks
Every loyalty program in BLOY is built around two essential components.
Ways to Earn Points
Ways to Earn define how customers earn points by completing actions you configure. Common earning actions include making a purchase, signing up, celebrating a birthday, etc. These actions determine when points are awarded and form the foundation of your loyalty program.
Ways to Redeem Points
Ways to Redeem define how customers use their points, including discounts, store credit, free products, or free shipping. Together with Ways to Earn, they create the core earn → redeem loop of your loyalty program.

Engagement & Growth use cases
Once your basic earn and redeem rules are in place, you can extend them with additional earning actions designed to drive engagement and growth.
VIP Program
A VIP program helps you recognize and reward your most valuable customers over time.
VIP tiers can be configured based on points earned or amount spent, depending on how you want customers to progress. As customers move up tiers, they can unlock benefits such as entry rewards, ongoing perks, or bonus point earnings. Many stores introduce VIP tiers after their core loyalty program is live to encourage long-term engagement.

Referrals
Referral programs reward customers for inviting new shoppers to your store.
A typical referral flow looks like this:
- An existing customer shares their referral link
- A new customer clicks the referral link and receives a discount to apply to their order
- After the referred customer completes a qualifying purchase, the referrer earns loyalty points
Referrals help turn loyal customers into advocates while supporting customer acquisition beyond repeat purchases.
Review rewards
Rewarding customers for leaving reviews encourages engagement while supporting your store’s growth.
Product reviews help build trust, influence purchase decisions, and reduce hesitation for first-time buyers. By rewarding reviews, you align customer incentives with outcomes that matter to your business.
One example is Rugged Pirate Beard Co., which incentivized reviews through loyalty rewards to increase customer-generated content and strengthen trust with new visitors. Read the full case study here: The Rugged Pirate Beard Loyalty Secret
Limited-Time offers
Limited-time offers allow you to temporarily boost point earnings for specific actions.
For example, you can run a short campaign where customers earn 2× points on orders during the weekend, or offer bonus points during seasonal promotions. This creates urgency and flexibility without changing your core earning rules.

How Everything Fits Together
You don’t need to enable every feature from day one.
Many stores start with Ways to Earn and Ways to Redeem, then gradually add VIP tiers, referrals, review rewards, or limited-time offers as their program matures. This approach keeps the loyalty program simple at launch while allowing it to evolve alongside your business.
